What is a bitumen tile roof?
A roof made of bitumen shingles is the most common type of roof you see in homes today. This is a
roofing system consisting mainly of bitumen shingles and other components of an asphalt roof.
There are three types of bitumen shingles to choose from: 3-petal, dimensional and luxurious. Bitumen
tile with 3 protrusions lies flat and got its name from 3 ledges on each strip of shingle. Dimensional
shingles give you a beautiful random pattern or mimic the look of a wooden roof.
Maintenance and repair
Roofs made of bitumen tiles require minimal maintenance and repair. Periodically check the roof for
problem areas or problems. Take a look to make sure there are no missing shingles or loose branches
and debris. It is also important to clean the gutters from time to time.
If there are exposed areas in place of the tiles, they should be replaced as soon as possible to prevent
damage to the roof.
Types of construction
The most common type of bitumen shingles that homeowners install is either fiberglass shingles, or tiles
based on organic mat. The tile will either have an asphalt-impregnated organic substrate made of
cellulose fibers such as wood or paper, or it may have a fiberglass-based substrate or mat.
Fiberglass shingles can have the following general characteristics:

cellulose fibers such as wood or paper, or it may have a fiberglass-based substrate or mat.
Fiberglass shingles can have the following general characteristics:
— High wear resistance and durability
— Less weight and thinner material
— Higher fire resistance than organic varieties
— Longer guarantees
Tiles made of organic mat may contain 40 percent or more of asphalt than fiberglass, which makes it
heavier, thicker and more expensive.
However, they are also durable, flexible and able to absorb more damage over time.
The side exposed to atmospheric influences is covered with a harder bitumen material, and then sealed
with special filler granules to create a surface exposed to atmospheric influences. Then a heat-sensitive
adhesive or a «self-adhesive strip» of mastic is applied over the protrusions, so the tiles are glued to
each other after being nailed in a staggered manner.
Styles
Shingles come in a variety of basic design styles, including old backup strip shingles with three projections and more textured dimensional laminated architectural shingles.

— A ribbon tile is a base tile with a strip of material (usually 3 times the length and height proportionally)
with cutouts or protrusions. The most common strip tile is a strip tile with 3 projections.

— Laminated dimensional shingles are premium grade shingles and have multiple layers of protrusions to create the texture and size of the shingles. A variety of dimensional shingles is luxury shingles, which are much thicker and have a larger impact area than dimensional shingles. Luxury shingles can mimic the look wooden or slate tiles.

Shingles with three projections have cutouts or projections located along their lower edges. This means that each tile looks like three different pieces, but they are one big piece. This type of tile remains the most popular and economical way to cover the roof. A tile with three protrusions, after all, covers most of the ground.

For comparison, laminated tiles do not have cutouts, but have sections laminated with a large amount of asphalt.
All roofing works were carried out efficiently, on time and within the budget.
